Fine and Performing Arts
“I’m proud of our students and their art. They draw, they paint, they write, they sing, they play instruments, and they act upon the stage. It’s beautiful to behold and part of what makes the CA experience so worthwhile.”
Angel Vigil, Fine and Performing Arts Department Chairman

Exploring and Nurturing Creativity and Self-Expression
At CA, the arts are integral to every student’s coursework. Participation enhances one’s humanity and transcends the boundaries of a traditional education. From painting to sculpting, beginning piano to instrumental ensemble, circus arts to dramatic productions, CA’s fine and performing arts program gives students the opportunity to discover and cultivate their own creative interests. In Middle School, students choose a fine and performing arts elective each trimester that is part of their daily schedules. Upper School includes a two-year fine and performing arts requirement that more than 90% of the student population exceeds.

String quartets, harp solos, and piano concertos echo across campus. Student creations are displayed in the art studio and in various galleries. Middle and Upper School actors stage fall dramas, spring musicals, and one-act play festivals. Technical theatre students build sets and program lighting. Student musicians, actors, and artists take center stage at all-school assemblies.

For some, the CA fine and performing arts program is the perfect training ground for further study and careers. For others, it is a way to find balance amid academic assignments and athletic competition.
