How You Can Help
“Congratulations Horizons on your eighth year of providing
K-8 grade students with the tools it takes to succeed. We must all help these students become our future leaders."
Denver City Councilwoman Rosemary Rodriguez
How can you help support Horizons at Colorado Academy?
Horizons supporters offer their resources and/or their time to provide enrichment and leadership skills to at-risk children. There are two ways to express your support for this worthy program: donate or volunteer.
Donations: Individual donors, foundations, corporations, and Colorado Academy itself, with “in-kind” support in the form of buses, facilities, etc. help fund the Horizons Program.
- By making a monetary gift to Horizons at Colorado Academy, you have the opportunity to join the supporters who make a real difference in the lives of disadvantaged children in the metro Denver community. Because of the nine-year commitment Horizons makes to each student, you can follow every child’s progress from Kindergarten through the eighth grade year.
- Click here to download a copy of the Horizons donor form. Denver’s future depends on programs like Horizons to remain socially and economically strong. Your gift will give back to you, because Horizons is a part of Colorado’s Child Care Tax Credit program, which offers a 50% credit on Colorado tax returns (www.cpco.org/taxcredit.htm).

Volunteer: Each summer, many youth and adults volunteer their time to help support this worthy program. Some Horizons volunteer facts:
- Ages range from entering 6th grade to adult
- Time requirements are scheduled, yet flexible
- “Jobs” include reading a book to a young child, listening as an older student reads, helping teachers prepare classroom materials, assisting with cooking or gardening projects, being a good listener, or playing soccer on the field during recess.
